Monster Walleyes and Big Adirondack Whitetails!
JRL - 09
May 12th
Dick and Rich checked on the camps and said everything is OK.
May 16th
I took a truck load of the flooring to camp today. Met Dick there and we unloaded the floor, removed wood off the rack, started the big green genorator, filled all the water jugs. The porcupines and bears are starting to scratch the wood shed, so it needs to be restained. We had a few hot dogs and beans for lunch while there! Hung the flag for the season. Here are a few pictures of Saturday!

May 26th
Ed and I went to my home and picked up the rest of the flooring and headed to camp. We brought with us the paint for the doors, the red paper for the floor, a few boxes of wood screws, and food. We also had Kira with us. We finished the insulation around the bunks, wired the 3 12volt lights on the top 3 bunks, ran wire for the 12 volt light under the sink and for the radio by the table, wired and hung the boxes for the ceiling fans, repositioned the door strikers, burnt all the left over T111 from building, and removed the fireplace. That fireplace sucked and we will be getting a new wood stove. Dave showed up on Sunday night and meassured for the insulation and plywood for the bottom of the cabin. He also helped remove the fireplace. He said he will take care of the underflooring and the new stove this year. Dick was up and so was Rick from the 1st club. There were others up but they are not worth mentioning. We did some hiking out to Pilsbury Lake and found a snowmobile in town to use at camp this year. Here are a few pictures of the weekend.

Went to Mt. Jam @ Hunter Mt. Here are a few pictures.

June 6th
I want to thank Max, Dick and John for all the help installing the flooring in the camp.

July 13th
I took the 6500 watt genorator to the repair shop to be fixed. Ed and I cut the legs to fit the shooting bench and we should have it at camp by the 24th of July. The genorator was fixed and ready to go to camp but it will not start again.  A letter stated the Miami Bridge is closed as of 6-29-09. Reopens on the 11th of July. The shooting bench is complete and will make its way to camp for our use soon. We built a fire ring at camp also.

July 27th
Brian, Ed and Kira went to camp this weekend for a ton of work to be done. We rented a trench digger and dug the line for the power from the outhouse to the cabin and ran the wires. All wires are connected except for the #8 wire. We have to pick up some plugs and boxes for the generator but it should work great when finished. We built 3 cooler benches and a new wood rack. The shooting bench was leveled and used on Sunday and worked great. We hung the 2 ceiling fans and cleaned up around the outside of the camp. We picked up the generator and it ran great all weekend, filled the propane tanks and put them on a new platform. Dave will insulate the bottom of the cabin and Gary will get the wood stove to camp before it gets to cold up there. Wood is the next item and big job we need to get before the season starts. Dick and Rich have treed 30 bears to date with the dogs and we look forward going with them one day. The camp is now starting to show that it has the potential to be a great place to get away to!

September 7th
Happy Birthday Dad! Miss and Love ya!
Carol, Gary,Walt, and I went to camp to do a few chores. Gary delivered a new wood stove which replaced the peice of crap fireplace from last year. We picked up wood from Mayfield and delivered it to the camp. Two more truck loads and the wood will be there in full. We hiked to Camp 19 on Saturday in preperation for the bear season. Swam in the Jessup on Sunday and relaxed on Monday until we left. Here are a few pictures of the weekend.

September 14th
Went to camp and brought in a load of firewood. One more load will have it all done. Bought tarps and covered the wood. Everything is running great with no issues right now. Straightened up around camp a bit, burned some of the brush that was laying around camp and are now ready for the hunting season. The DEC was there after Labor Day weekend and put of more signs on the road and hung one on our gate, just like at the other camps. We saw 1 deer, 1 bear, and caught a few fish at Mason Lake. Bear season starts Saturday and Gary, Walt and I will be there. Here is a picture of Rob with 1 of his 20+ fish and the cub we caught crossing the road by camp. Looks like we will be around 19 and 22 this weekend. I received a letter from the judge today which tells me I can do as I please with the flooring. We will be cutting/burning the rest of the wood flooring that we did not use over the coming weekend. This will make great starter wood for the new stove! The keys to the camp will be returned also per the judge. Just recieved a call from the genorator guy and he said the carburator is no good on that 6500 watt. He put one on from a honda and it started 4 times in a quarter pull. He is going to put a new carburator on and let me know when it is up and running. I will have to get it and deliver it to camp ASAP.

September 18th
Gary and Walt arrived in camp on the 17th at about 11pm. I will be there by 8pm tonight. I heard from Rich and he will be up today in the early am. Bear season starts on the 19th and I already have my stand site picked out. Good luck to all this year! Gary and Walt saw a few deer as well as Rich and I. No bear were seen from our party. There were a few other guys around and they attempted to use other peoples stands and got caught. We had a good time and will be back at it again. It is nice to have a bunch of guys up hunting and using the cabin for what is was built and designed for. Come on up Dave/Ed/Brian! Things are good at camp. All the wood flooring is gone, as we made room for the genorators! Here are a few pictures from the weekend.

September 28th
Gary, Walt, Rich, Brian and I were at camp again. No bear seen but a few deer were. The generator broke again and it was delivered to the shop on Saturday afternoon. Eveything else is running great. Here are a few pictures of the weekend. The first 3 are from my spot for bear on the side of a cliff.

Oct. 20th
Was at camp with Dave B. muzzeloading. I saw a cub bear and Dave saw a big buck in a spruce swamp but no shot. Things seem to be working well at camp. Went to Fawn Lake to check out some low land areas to hunt during the migration next time we get some deep snow. Will be back for opener of rifle on Friday night with Ed. Hike around with Dick and found 1 scrape. Rich, Dick and I installed their chimeny and ancored it to the roof. Saw a few other guys hunting and a few that were up in the camping areas. Looking forward to the Elk hunt later this year.
Oct 26th
Went to camp for the opener with Ed. We were the only 2 in camp. Rained all day Saturday and made 2 ft deep mud holes in the driveway. 4 wheel drive only from here on out. Saturday we drove around and checked out spots to Spruce Lake and on Mud Lake Road. Hunted Sunday and saw a few does and about 10 grouse.
